Robotics Camps, Summer 2020

Summer Day Camps for Ages 9-14
Robotics Inventors Camp (Ages 9-12) Using LEGO Spike Prime - $295

June 22 - 26, 9am - 3pm

 

Description: In this week-long camp, your child will develop skills in coding, design, robotics, and invention. 

 

This year we will use the newly released LEGO SPIKE Prime robotics set as a platform to develop coding and engineering skills.  Other activities include inventions powered by micro:bit platform and Sphero SPRK+.   Each of these kits provide opportunities to design inventions and use code to make them do things. 

 

This course is taught by an experienced teacher with STEM experience, 2 UL Mechanical Engineering Majors, and youth mentors with 8+ years experience in robotics.

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Robotics Camp (Ages 9-14) - $295

Dates: 

June 29 - July 3, 9am - 3pm

Cost.  $295. Your child must bring a lunch on Tuesday / Thursday.  Lunch provided on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at the UL Student Union.

 

Description: This camp is designed for those interested in improving skills to better compete in FIRST LEGO League (FLL) robotics competitions.

All areas of FIRST LEGO League (FLL) will be developed: robot game, core values, and innovation project.  Current and former members of Team Phoenix, an experienced FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team will assist in the camp.

Students will use LEGO Mindstorms EV3 or the newly release LEGO Spike Prime set that has been approved for use in FIRST LEGO League competitions.

 

The teaching team consists of an experienced teacher with STEM experience, 2 UL mechanical engineering majors, and youth mentors with 8+ years experience in FIRST LEGO League (FLL) robotics.

Other Details

Small class sizes: We realize that in challenging hands-on learning environments, students need mentoring and support.   Classes are limited to 16 participants with 4 teachers/mentors providing hands-on support.

 

Food: Snacks will be provided.  Registration includes lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the UL Student Union cafeteria.  Each student must bring their own lunch on Tuesday and Thursday.

 

Swimming: One afternoon will include a swimming at the UL Lafayette Student Aquatic Center.

 

We will cancel the class if we do not reach enrollment of 16 students.

Camp Location

We will use classrooms in Maxim Doucet Hall on the UL Lafayette campus.

 
Refund Policy

Refund Policy.  Refund requests received on or prior to May 15, 2020 will receive a full refund. Between May 16 - June 1, 2020 requests will be 50% refunded.  After June 1, 2020, fees are not refundable.
