June 29 - July 3, 9AM - 3:00PM
Summer Day Camp for Ages 9-14
Coding and Robotics Inventors Camp (Ages 9-14)
July 15-19, 9am - 3pm
Description: In this week-long camp, your child will develop skills in coding, design, robotics, and invention.
Your child will develop skill in coding and computational thinking through coding challenges using the micro:bit platform, LittleBits Code Kit, Sphero SPRK+, and the LEGO WeDo 2 kit. Each of these kits provide opportunities to design inventions and use code to make them do things. We are excited about the new micro:bit platform. The micro:bit is a small programmable computer that each camper will be able to take home at the end of the week!
Throughout the week we will visit several engineering labs to deepen students understanding of how engineering can be used to solve problems facing humanity.
This course is taught by an experienced teacher with STEM experience, 1 UL Mechanical Engineering Major, and 2 youth mentor with 8+ years experience in robotics.
Small class sizes: We realize that in challenging hands-on learning environments, students need mentoring and support. Classes are limited to 16 participants with 4 teachers/mentors providing hands-on support.
Food: Snacks will be provided. Registration includes lunch on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the UL Student Union cafeteria. Each student must bring their own lunch on Tuesday and Thursday.
Swimming: Wednesday afternoon will include a swimming at the UL Lafayette Student Aquatic Center.
We will cancel the class if we do not reach enrollment of 16 students.
We will use 1 classroom in Maxim Doucet Hall on the UL Lafayette campus.
